Cleansers are essential skincare products, providing an essential service in terms of oil removal, dirt clearing and dead cell removal. Furthermore, quality cleansers may hydrate skin while locking in essential nutrients and improving product absorption.
Cleansers containing sulfates should be avoided to preserve your natural oils and avoid irritating your skin which could lead to dryness, redness or inflammation.
Water-based cleansers
Water-based cleansers contain water as the main ingredient, making them suitable for all skin types and sensitive individuals alike. Furthermore, these water-based cleansers contain less potentially irritating ingredients and provide ample hydration benefits that help balance oily or combination skin types.
Water-based cleansers, used as the second step in a double cleansing regimen, remove sweat and dirt from the skin’s surface while creating an ideal surface for skincare products to penetrate deeper. They come in the form of gels, creams, or foams formulated with gentle surfactants and natural humectants such as glycerin for optimal effectiveness.
To use, apply to wet skin and lather with either hands or a damp cloth before rinsing with lukewarm water. Follow up with toner, serum or moisturizer as needed.
Foam cleansers
Foam cleansers produce a light lather when applied to your skin, and are often recommended for oily or acne-prone complexions as they penetrate pores more effectively than gels, helping remove excess oil and sebum build-up from within pores.
Suki Skin Care’s Foaming Cleanser is perfect for gently and efficiently cleansing sensitive skin types while leaving it smooth and soft. However, some foaming cleansers contain ingredients such as surfactants that can cause micro-tears in your skin’s surface layer – but Suki’s Foaming Cleanser does not contain these harsh substances!
Gel cleansers differ from foam cleansers in that they’re more water-based and often have thicker consistency. As such, they’re an excellent solution for dry or sensitive skin as they won’t over-dry it while possibly providing moisturising properties too! Furthermore, gel cleansers can remove makeup and impurities effectively but may be less successful at unclogging pores than foam cleaners.
Oil cleansers
Oil cleansers are safe, effective ways to effectively rid skin of sweat, dirt and excess sebum without stripping it of its natural oils. Oil cleanser is an excellent way to balance the body’s oil production while aiding dry skin conditions by providing essential hydration and replenishment of its lipids.
Oil’s lipophilic properties attract excess sebum and fatty substances found in makeup, dirt, dead skin cells and other impurities, making removal much simpler than typical water-based cleansers. They also offer double cleansing effects due to water’s ability to wash away impurities effectively.
Sour cherry oil’s unique combination of fatty acids makes it an extremely effective cleansing oil. Packed with linoleic and oleic acids as well as antioxidants, its mild astringent properties help tone the complexion while being cost-effective to use in cleansing products such as oil cleansers that incorporate emulsifiers to mix the oils with water for easy rinsing off.
Gel cleansers
Gel cleansers feature a thick, gel-like consistency and are often water-based. They offer deep cleansing by unclogging pores without stripping skin of its natural oils, helping maintain an ideal balance between water and oil within your skin’s cells.
Gentle and moisturizing products designed for sensitive skin such as cucumber extract, aloe vera extract and jojoba esters are great ways to soothe irritation, keep skin hydrated post cleansing and aid in relieving irritation.
Foaming cleansers have a thicker consistency than gel cleansers and usually produce very little lather, making it take time for some people to adjust to using gel face wash. But that doesn’t make them any less effective; gel cleansers still remove impurities from your face surface while working deeper to dissolve excess sebum that causes blocked pores – perfect for oily skin as well as those with sensitive or dry skin who need mild products that won’t irritate or disrupt their pH balance.
