Cannabidiol – What Are the Health Benefits of Cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the many phytocannabinoids found in cannabis sativa (marijuana), with low levels of THC, the psychoactive component that produces an intense high. CBD-rich products such as beverages, oils, and body lotions utilize this phytocannabinoid.

This systematic review identified randomized clinical trials which evaluated the benefits and adverse events of CBD for various indications, with results being combined using random-effects meta-analysis.

Anti-seizure

CBD is an anti-seizure medication that works by binding to the endocannabinoid system, which regulates neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. CBD can effectively treat seizures by decreasing seizures while improving quality of life for those living with epilepsy; additionally, CBD may also help manage anxiety or depression in epilepsy patients.

Contrary to THC, CBD does not produce psychoactive effects. Instead, it is a naturally occurring component of Cannabis sativa plants and extracted using hemp for use as pills or added into food and drinks; pet treats and oils also contain CBD.

In 2018, the FDA granted EPIDIOLEX FDA approval as a purified CBD extract drug to treat severe genetic epilepsy syndromes such as Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, Dravet Syndrome and Tuberous Sclerosis Complex in children one year or older. While taking EPIDIOLEX may cause drowsiness or reduced appetite; liver problems could arise; so your physician will conduct blood tests prior to beginning therapy with this medication and throughout its use.

Pain relief

CBD, or cannabidiol, is an ingredient found in marijuana that may provide many potential health advantages. With very low concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol – which produces marijuana’s “high” – CBD has been demonstrated to alleviate both pain and anxiety without producing psychoactive highs – making it an excellent solution for people living with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia or similar illnesses.

Scientists recently made the surprising discovery that CBD’s pain-relief effects do not rely on the same receptors as THC; rather, it appears to affect electrical and calcium signaling in nerve cells instead. This discovery could pave the way for new medications that provide better relief without some of the adverse side effects associated with traditional opioids.

As CBD becomes more and more popular, researchers are exploring its uses as an anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective medication. CBD may even prove useful for treating conditions like fibromyalgia; however, more study needs to be conducted in this area.

Anxiety relief

CBD can have positive effects on anxiety and stress levels, yet it’s wise to consult your physician prior to beginning to take it. Some individuals use it alongside other medications in treating depression or anxiety; it is also helpful for your physician to know about any other medicines such as supplements or vitamins you take.

CBD, found in hemp plants with low levels of delta-9-THC and no psychoactive effects associated with marijuana, may help reduce pain, alleviate anxiety and prevent seizures for certain patients. Studies are being done on its effectiveness for cancer symptoms or side effects and other diseases as well. CBD may be taken in capsules, oils or vape pens; Sunday Scaries recommends CBDfx Gummies which offer three strength options and offer subscribers 15% discounts – they have been proven effective against anxiety and stress while customers report safe taking.

Cancer treatment

CBD is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid with proven anti-tumor properties. Studies conducted on preclinical models have demonstrated its efficacy against tumor growth, inducing apoptosis and suppressing metastasis – all by interacting with cannabinoid receptors, vanilloid receptors, as well as PPARg and TRPV1. Furthermore, studies indicate it downregulates ID1, an ID-inducing protein responsible for metastasis formation as well as inhibit cell cycle progression – all within preclinical models.

Lung cancer is the leading form of cancer worldwide and can be further subdivided into non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) or small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). CBD has been demonstrated to significantly decrease cancer stem cells for both types, suggesting its therapeutic use when combined with chemotherapy regimens.

Research has also shown that CBD can be effective in alleviating chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). However, it should be noted that most of the data about cannabis for cancer treatment comes from laboratory studies rather than clinical trials; thus it would be wise to consult your cancer specialist when making decisions regarding cannabinoids as possible treatments.
