Eco-friendly feminine hygiene products can make periods less toxic, with biodegradable pads made of organic materials which are easier on your skin and pores, decomposing faster, minimizing environmental impacts and providing reduced carbon emissions.

These sanitary pads are free from harmful chemicals such as dioxins and perfumes that could irritate the skin. Plus, they’re easy to dispose of!

Eco-friendly

Traditional menstrual products like sanitary pads contain non-biodegradable materials that take years to decompose in landfills and may pollute ecosystems, while their production requires massive amounts of fossil fuel energy. But recently an emerging movement of designers and entrepreneurs are producing eco-friendly alternatives which reduce their impact on the environment.

Biodegradable pads use natural and organic materials like bamboo and organic cotton that are more sustainable and hypoallergenic than their non-biodegradable counterparts, while also helping reduce chemical use during production, which benefits human and environmental health.

A team of University of Utah materials science and engineering students has come up with a biodegradable feminine pad called SHERO Pad that’s made entirely out of all-natural, biodegradable materials that can last for up to 45 days of use. Researchers are exploring localized sourcing and processing as a way of mitigating transportation-related emissions.

Skin-friendly

Chemical additives in conventional pads may lead to irritation of both skin and vaginal areas. Biodegradable sanitary napkins made of natural materials that are gentle on pores can reduce irritation. They also have lower carbon footprint than their plastic counterparts.

Biodegradable sanitary napkins offer an alternative to plastic pads that take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills and oceans, thus lessening their impact and protecting marine life and protecting the environment.

Banana fiber pads are considered eco-friendly options due to their use of pure cotton water jet fabric that’s both hypoallergenic and skin-friendly, while their bottom layers typically consist of biopolymers derived from plants to reduce oil-based synthetic products while using less energy to produce. Furthermore, their production requires no chemicals harmful to the environment which makes these eco-friendly pads a smart choice for women.

Comfortable

Manufacturers add chemicals to sanitary pads in an effort to make them whiter, brighter, and more absorbent; such additives include bleaching agents, fluorescent agents, deodorants, and artificial fragrances. Unfortunately, such chemicals may lead to itching, rashes, or other unpleasantness on sensitive skin; but biodegradable pads offer relief.

Biodegradable sanitary pads differ from their plastic counterparts by dissolving quickly over time, helping reduce waste accumulation in landfills and the ocean. Their quick decomposition helps decrease litter in these spaces.

Biodegradable pads utilize sustainable materials like bamboo, jute, paper, corn starch and banana fiber to produce an eco-friendly product that’s also less irritating to your vaginal tissue. When experiencing heavier periods, opt for pads with higher absorbency levels; Honey Pot Company’s Herbal Daytime Heavy Flow Pads feature an extra large absorbent core for maximum protection during heavier flows.

Easy to dispose

Traditional disposable menstrual products have a devastating environmental impact. Their plastic waste takes decades to decompose, polluting ecosystems and the marine environment. Biodegradable sanitary pads offer an alternative that reduces this environmental burden significantly.

Biodegradable pads are made from sustainable and natural materials like organic cotton, bamboo fiber and corn starch that are gentler on skin than conventional pads; less likely to cause rashes or allergies than their conventional counterparts and free from dyes and chemicals – ideal for women with sensitive skin conditions.

Biodegradable sanitary pads come in compostable packaging, so you can throw them directly in your home compost bin or send them for industrial composting. Even without access to such facilities, however, responsible disposal should still be achieved by wrapping and tossing into your trashcan – flushing will damage plumbing infrastructure!
