Natural lubricants are often made with organic, sustainable ingredients and free from fragrances, preservatives and other potentially hazardous ingredients.

Ghee, a type of clarified butter commonly used in South Asian cooking, can serve as a natural vaginal lubricant that may be safe. However, as its intake could alter vaginal pH levels.

Organic Coconut Oil

Vaginal lubricants can help ease friction and pain during intercourse, which is especially helpful if you suffer from dryness. Vaginal lubricants may also increase sensuality and arousal – though for maximum effectiveness it’s essential that natural products that do not contain additives are chosen.

Organic coconut oil is one of the most sought-after options, often cold pressed to preserve its original flavors, colors and nutrients. Furthermore, this non-GMO, hexane-free oil contains no trans fats.

This oil has an exceptionally high heat tolerance and can be used for everything from frying and cooking, skin moisturizer, oil pulling or oil pulling sessions. Although solid at room temperature, its melting point will rise with increased heat exposure – making this oil convenient and readily available at most grocery stores.

Organic Aloe Vera

Aloe vera plant provides natural skin hydration and can also assist with vaginal dryness. Containing anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe irritation, redness and discomfort; its cooling effect provides relief; it offers a great alternative to harsh chemicals found in many personal lubricants.

Look for an aloe vera formula made entirely from organic aloe vera that does not contain parabens or other questionable chemicals, and is iso-osmolar (pH balanced at 4.5), to emulate vaginal pH while supporting lactobacilli bacteria that protect the vaginal area.

Be sure to test for allergies to aloe vera before using it as lubrication, just in case!

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is an incredibly versatile oil used in cosmetic products and sexual lubricants alike. As a natural lubricant, it’s great for increasing sexual pleasure when applied directly on the genital area – its light texture allows for easy application on both penis or vagina, providing an alternative solution to traditional silicone-based lubricants or creams.

Martinez-Nieto and Moreno-Romero utilized gas chromatography to analyze unsaponifiable sterols present in four varieties of avocado oils (Reed, Bacon, Fuerte and Hass). Their findings demonstrated that Hass avocado oil contained the highest level of b-sitosterol.

If your door hinge is making noise, try applying avocado oil to it – this should help to silence its squeak! Plus, avocado oil can also be used to oil metal tools (saws and knives) to protect from rusting.

Ghee

Ghee has long been a cornerstone of Indian cuisine, adding intense flavors and providing a high smoke point suitable for frying and sauteing. Ghee also contains healthy omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids which contribute to its nutritional benefits.

Butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid found in blueberries and raspberries, helps soothe and heal gut lining while aiding body in better absorbing nutrients.

According to Ayurveda, constipation can often be the result of weak digestive fire (Agni). Eating some ghee can help revitalize Agni and promote more regular bowel movements; furthermore it acts as an internal lubricant, coating your intestinal lining for smoother and more consistent movements.

Nagaimo

Nagaimo (also known as Japanese or Chinese yam) is an extremely versatile food that serves as a natural lubricant when cooked properly. After being heated up in a pan or microwave oven, its resistance starch (RS2) dissolves, producing fluffy soft texture similar to that of mashed potatoes. When grated or shredding for serving it can also be folded into rice dishes such as okonomiyaki.

Add Nagaimo to your homemade lubricant to ensure it won’t stick or dry out, and can safely be used with latex condoms and silicone sex toys. Just remember to wear gloves, as its skin contains calcium oxalate which may cause skin irritations. For best results combine it with natural oils such as avocado or coconut oil when making it.
