Health support can make an immense difference in the lives of vulnerable people. It can assist them with finding safe housing, accessing medical supplies and care and getting to appointments on time – this career path provides endless possibilities! For those passionate about people and society alike.

Home health care

Home health care services provide short-term physician-directed care services designed to help individuals regain independence and stay healthy within their homes. Services may include nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or any other specialized treatments specifically tailored for each patient’s individual needs.

Licensed in-home care agencies can work directly with your physician, other specialists and therapists, hospitals/other health facilities/insurance companies to develop a tailored home health care plan just for you. They will also work closely with family members for support and guidance.

Many older adults prefer receiving health services at home rather than traveling to a facility; however, many healthcare systems struggle to meet this demand.

In-home nursing

Home nursing care can be an ideal way to ensure a loved one receives medical care without needing to visit the hospital, with most Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers covering it. Furthermore, it helps ease family member stress by relieving them of some responsibilities; personalized in-home nursing is often more suited to each patient than care in a nursing home; caregivers get to know patients on an intimate level while offering emotional support as well as teaching family members how to provide care themselves; educational requirements vary by state for in-home nurses.

Home health aides

Home health aides can be instrumental in helping individuals maintain independence in the comfort of their own home. They assist with personal care tasks like personal grooming and medication reminders as well as providing companionship and emotional support. Furthermore, home health aides may assist with home maintenance and safety services as well.

As a home health aide, it is vital to follow the rules set by your employer. This may involve attending physical examinations, in-service training sessions and meetings regularly as well as safeguarding patient privacy by not discussing medical details outside of work with anyone unless necessary; doing so will create trust between both patient and aide, creating an ideal working environment.

Dietitians

Dietitians specialize in encouraging healthy eating practices and treating illness through nutritional counseling, working across a range of settings such as health care, business/industry, community/public health, research and education.

Clinical dietitians provide nutrition services in hospitals and nursing care facilities, working closely with medical teams to ensure patients meet their nutritional requirements. They may also develop education programs or consult with doctors and nurses on patient medical histories.

Dietitians can help manage medical conditions such as heart disease by suggesting foods to eat that will provide the essential nutrition. They can also advise women during gestation and breastfeeding about getting enough essential nutrients into their bodies.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests are medical devices used to analyze blood, urine or other bodily tissues in order to ascertain whether certain levels are within normal parameters in the body. They can help doctors detect disease or track treatment progress more closely.

Lab tests are an integral component of a wellness exam. They can detect disease early, making treatment simpler, as well as helping prevent harmful conditions from worsening and thus decreasing medical care costs.

Laboratory testing’s value lies in whether its results help improve health outcomes. Therefore, laboratories should take proactive steps in communicating with clinicians regarding selecting appropriate tests and interpreting results so that they facilitate beneficial clinical actions.

Transportation

Non-emergency medical transportation services provide an essential service for many patients who would otherwise miss appointments due to transportation barriers, resulting in poorer health outcomes and increased costs for healthcare systems. Studies have revealed this phenomenon can significantly lower quality healthcare outcomes while simultaneously driving up costs within them.

Healthcare systems are increasingly offering transportation programs designed to enhance access and decrease no-show costs, typically using app-based ridesharing services to encourage attendance at scheduled outpatient appointments.

To better assess the potential impacts of these programs on healthcare utilization and costs, we conducted a mixed-methods evaluation of an NEMT program offered to members of a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO). To quantify cost savings from transportation benefits we used logistic regression to estimate no-show rates and late arrivals as well as measure cost-savings expected due to these methods of transportation.
