Feminine Care Products

Feminine hygiene products are an integral part of life for many women, yet are sometimes difficult to discuss openly. Our beloved feminine wash is gentle and unscented – designed with your Vulva in mind!

Internal menstrual products such as tampons and cups offer a more sustainable option that eliminates the need for pads while still offering reliable protection. Unfortunately, however, they can be more difficult to use at first than pads may.

Pads and Liners

Pads and panty liners are disposable feminine care products designed to assist with menstrual flow, spotting and vaginal discharge. They can be used on their own or as backup for tampons and menstrual cups – these women’s hygiene items come in an assortment of shapes, sizes, lengths and absorbencies to meet different needs.

Many pads feature fragrance to mask any unpleasant odors and adhesives to secure them into place, helping minimize contact between chemicals and skin.

Girls should experiment with various feminine products in order to select one that works best for their bodies and menstrual cycles. Finding a pad that meets all your needs may take some trial-and-error, but finding something appropriate will ensure a comfortable period experience with reduced leaks, pain relief and protection from stains – something eco-friendly, organic cotton products provide. The feminine hygiene industry is rapidly expanding.

Tampons

Tampons are small cylindrical units designed to absorb menstrual blood internally and come in a range of sizes and absorbencies, often serving as our participants’ go-to feminine hygiene product. But not every woman finds them suitable; therefore it is wise to change your tampon every four hours or eight hours to prevent TSS (toxic shock syndrome).

Most tampons are constructed of cotton or rayon; both types undergo chlorine bleaching processes that release dioxins that have been linked with cancer and other health concerns. If you want to reduce your exposure, choose organic options instead.

Find tampons made of hemp instead, which use no chlorine bleaching and don’t release dioxins into the environment, for an eco-friendly and healthful option that’s better for both women and the planet.

Feminine Wash

As any woman or girl knows, the feminine hygiene aisle is filled with foams and sprays designed to clean intimate parts. Unfortunately, however, regular feminine wash usage is actually unnecessary; your vulva has its own internal system for self-cleaning that naturally eliminates bacteria that causes infections like BV or UTIs.

Be wary when purchasing feminine wash that contains fragrance. Companies do not need to disclose what ingredients go into fragrances, so you might not know whether they contain hormone-disrupting chemicals or allergens that could adversely impact your body. Look for feminine washes free of sulfates, parabens and other chemical additives; and seek ones made with plant-based prebiotic ingredients such as lactic acid and inulin for the optimal microbiome balance.

Wipes

Women should keep wipes on hand as part of their feminine hygiene regimen to clean the vagina. When purchasing wipes, opt for those without fragrance as fragrance can irritate skin. In addition, use mild, pH-balanced cleaners with warm water for daily vaginal washings.

Apple Women’s Health Study found that people most commonly used regular tampons, sanitary napkins/pads, panty liners and menstrual cups. Other alternatives have begun emerging as alternatives to these traditional feminine hygiene products – organic tampons with biodegradable bags for disposal, washable period panties designed by Dame (who will later join our show!) as well as reusable applicators like those designed by them (stay tuned!) are emerging to disrupt this linear system of feminine hygiene products!

Feminine hygiene can be taboo topics for some, yet it is crucial for female genital health. Furthermore, proper feminine care and hygiene is an integral component of womanhood’s ability to participate in school, work and other social activities – particularly during her period. Our collection contains historic advertisements that reassured women they could pass as healthy while on their periods.
