1. Hydrolyzed Silk
Hydrolyzed Silk is an outstanding moisturizer and texture enhancer that can also provide hair and scalp treatments, face and hair cleansers and shaving creams with added hydration benefits. You may have come across it before. Often found in shampoos, body and hand soaps, face/hair cleansers and shaving creams containing hydrolyzed silk as an ingredient.
Silk contains the primary protein known as fibroin, which can be broken down using hydrolysis into smaller peptides and amino acids to lower its molecular weight and make it more absorbable by skin and hair.
This ingredient can help improve both hair and skin health, as it is closely related to proteins found naturally within our bodies. Most commonly seen as an effective remedy against androgenetic alopecia in men, it may also prove helpful in improving all hair types and styles.
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has long been considered an essential component of beauty products, and for good reason: this plant helps with skin hydration, supports elasticity and prevents deeper wrinkles.
Aloe Vera is a natural anti-aging agent, stimulating collagen production to reduce signs of aging. You can find it in products like Mustela’s Organic Hydrating Cream with Olive Oil and Aloe for instance.
Aloe barbadensis plants feature thick and fleshy, spikey leaves with an inner translucent gel. Their outer layer contains vascular bundles and yellow latex with bitter-tasting anthraquinones (toxic compounds). Their inner gel contains polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, water-soluble nutrients such as fat-soluble vitamins as well as water-soluble and fat-soluble nutrients phenolic acids and amino acids which have proven their immune modulatory, wound healing, antiseptic, bactericidal, hepatoprotective and cathartic properties.
3. Panthenol
Panthenol (D-panthenol), an abundant provitamin of vitamin B5, is an exceptionally beneficial skincare ingredient. Acting as a conditioning agent to provide moisture to cuticles of hair and skin cuticles, Panthenol promotes stronger, healthier-looking locks as well as having anti-inflammatory properties which make it suitable as a sunscreen ingredient.
Panthenol can be found in many beauty products, ranging from shampoo and conditioners to styling gels, hair sprays, and detanglers. It can benefit all hair types but especially dehydrated or low-moisture locks; its leave-in formula allows it to remain on scalp and locks longer periods.
4. Glycerin
Glycerin is an oily substance derived from animal fat or synthesized artificially. It can be found in numerous skincare products and toothpaste to keep the tube moist during storage.
Water-binding properties make hyaluronic acid an excellent moisturizer that draws and holds water molecules close to the skin, helping active ingredients penetrate deeper. Furthermore, this natural preservative and bacteriostat (which stops bacteria growth) makes it an essential ingredient in many skincare products.
Non-comedogenic means it won’t clog pores and cause breakouts for those with sensitive skin, making it ideal for volumizing conditioners like our Volumizing Conditioner to volumize and soften hair strands, while it’s a fantastic addition to shampoos and lotions alike! Look out for it as an ingredient!
5. Water
Water works to nourish and soften hair while helping strands retain moisture, thus helping prevent dryness and brittleness. The lightweight formula of this conditioner gives fine, flat hair volume, body, softness without weighing it down; safe for color-treated locks without parabens, dyes or sulfates!
SHEAMOISTURE’s sulfate-free volumizing conditioner uses Rice Extract to lift and plump strands while Black Seed provides fullness, Amla adds shine and softness, and Onion juice strengthens hair strands. Apply to freshly cleansed locks for at least one minute before rinsing thoroughly to eliminate all product.
Biotin-rich conditioner is clinically proven to improve the appearance of thinning hair. With Shea Butter and Coconut Oil for weightless hydration and hair strengthening properties, this treatment should be applied onto clean damp strands for up to 3 minutes for best results.
