Wellbeing encompasses several components, such as being content with life and having purposeful activities that promote it over time. Doing activities which support these areas consistently can contribute to well-being.
Studies demonstrate the power of having certain skills like a growth mindset can make learning other abilities much simpler. Here are some ways to get started:
Wellness Programs
Wellness programs should go beyond providing employees with space to do jumping jacks or consume kale (though both of those activities are great!). Instead, their primary purpose should be supporting their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing – that’s what makes them effective; 95% of HR leaders who track ROI report that wellness programs increase productivity while decreasing healthcare costs, absenteeism and increasing employee happiness.
Wellness program participants tend to be healthier than non-participants and incur less medical spending; however, recent studies have raised concerns that participation incentives may skew results and lead to unintended outcomes.
Wellness programs should make participation easy for employees. From onboarding and training sessions, to including it into performance reviews, clear communication between all parties involved is vital to building employee trust that a wellness program is worth their investment and use of the wellness program is increased when employees feel assured in its value – meaning more employees show up feeling physically and emotionally healthier so they can focus on doing their jobs well!
Counseling Services
Counseling empowers individuals to meet life’s challenges and pursue personal development. Professional counselors are equipped to diagnose mental health disorders and find solutions to improve every area of your life from relationships and career advancement to education and overall mental wellness.
Individual Counseling Counselors provide an environment of empathy and positive regard that allows their clients to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors in one-on-one sessions with them. Working collaboratively together they can identify obstacles to success while developing healthy coping mechanisms to promote overall well-being.
Our counselors take into account your unique culture and experiences when providing counseling services, so they understand your struggles from your point of view. In addition, they utilize advanced tools, like AI-assisted therapy platforms and emotion tracking apps, to supplement traditional sessions with self-guided wellness support between appointments. This holistic approach has proven successful at increasing resilience while meeting goals important to you.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
An EAP offers employees help in dealing with personal matters that affect job performance. This program may offer free or low-cost counseling sessions as well as referrals for legal assistance, adoption assistance, elder care resources and stress management programs. They may also serve as consulting partners when helping managers address workplace behavior or performance concerns.
Employees can gain access to EAP services either by self-referring themselves or calling a toll-free number to speak with an EAP specialist. Most often, this specialist will ask some questions to assess what’s going on before suggesting suitable services for support.
The Employee Assistance Plan program (EAP) is administered and funded through collective bargaining agreements between New York State unions and their Office of Employee Relations. Participation is voluntary and confidential – EAP counselors do not need to disclose information to an employer or supervisor unless there is documentation of imminent risk to themselves or others, or allegations regarding violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act or other applicable laws.
Volunteer Opportunities
Civic engagement – from local community service projects to global endeavors – enhances our wellbeing by creating social connections, decreasing stress levels and strengthening emotional and mental resilience. It can also give individuals a sense of purpose which makes them feel good about themselves.
Many individuals who struggle to form new friendships find volunteering a wonderful way of meeting people and forging new relationships. Volunteering can also help build confidence while making you feel like an important member of society – an especially vital aspect if living with mental illness is present.
Are You Exploring Career Change Through Volunteering? Volunteering provides an easy way to experience various areas of work before committing to it full-time. For instance, nursing volunteers could volunteer at hospitals or nursing homes while those interested in foodie opportunities could try farm-to-table work, gleaning or helping with nutrition initiatives through volunteer efforts. Many organizations provide training and support services for volunteers.
