Hemp seed oil is produced from the seeds of cannabis plants and typically extracted mechanically with a cold press oilseed machine, similar to how sunflower or olive oils are made. Hemp seed oil boasts many essential vitamins and nutrients as well as being high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Hemp extracts are typically produced from low THC strains of cannabis. They typically contain an array of cannabinoids and terpenes, with CBD being the dominant cannabinoid.

Hemp seed oil is rich in linoleic acid

Hemp seed oil is high in linoleic acid and packed with the omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids that are both essential to human health. It is rich in gamma-linoleic acid

Hemp seed oil is packed with gamma-linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid known for improving skin health. Furthermore, hemp seed oil also boasts antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals – perfect for helping treat eczema or any inflammatory skin conditions.

Hexane-treated oils extracted from hemp hearts (HSHE), whole seeds, and hulls were tested using the DPPH free radical scavenging assay to determine their antioxidative properties. Results demonstrated dose-dependent antioxidative activities comparable to canola and sesame oils.

Fatty acid analysis revealed that linoleic acid (18:2 n-6), a-linolenic acid (18:3 n-3), and campesterol were among the primary TAGs present in these samples. Forty-seven intact TAGs with C18:0, C18:2, and C16:0 chains were identified using UPLC-HRMS analysis.

It is rich in antioxidants

Hemp seed oil contains many antioxidants, such as cannabinoids and terpenes, as well as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals – nutrients which may help combat oxidative stress which has been cited as one of the main contributors to chronic diseases.

Hemp extracts are sometimes referred to as full spectrum or whole plant hemp extract; they come from industrial hemp with less than 0.3% THC content, meaning they do not cause highs.

Hemp seed oil contains high concentrations of essential fatty acids like Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) and Oleic Acid, making it an ideal way to balance out your fatty acid composition. Furthermore, hemp seed oil’s antioxidants protect your body against damage caused by free radicals.

Oils made from hemp hearts and whole seeds possess dose-dependent DPPH radical scavenging activity; however, their IC50 values are weaker than other vegetable oils such as canola, soybean, or sesame oils.

A processing method selection has a direct bearing on oil yield and FA profile of hemp seeds, particularly when seeking high GLA concentrations.
