Cleansers are an essential element of any skin care routine, eliminating makeup and daily surface impurities like sweat and oil from your pores while soothing and nourishing the skin barrier. Our purifying and hydrating cleansers offer effective formulas designed to do exactly this while remaining gentle yet effective – an invaluable experience!

Avoid cleansers that contain sulfates as these can strip the face of essential oils, leading to dehydration and irritation. CeraVe offers excellent non-sulfate-containing options that provide nourishment without stripping away its natural oils – perfect for creating balanced and radiant complexions!

Cleansing

Cleansing is an integral component of skin care routine, designed to remove dirt, sweat, makeup, oils and other pollutants from the face. Cleansing can help prevent pimples, clogged pores, dullness and uneven tone as well as help ensure serums, treatments and moisturizers penetrate more effectively for your specific skin type.

An effective cleanser balances the natural oils produced by your skin, preventing any overproduction or depletion, while simultaneously maintaining its barrier function so it does not feel tight after cleansing.

Gel cleansers like our CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser produce a light lather that leaves skin feeling refreshed and deeply cleansed without stripping it of essential moisture. Waterless and rinse-free formulas like micellar water utilize micelles to attract and lift dirt and oil off the surface of skin for quick cleansing or use in double cleansing routines.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that clog your pores and leave them looking congested, helping reduce blackheads, whiteheads and acne while encouraging cell turnover that helps fade dark spots and even out your complexion.

Chemical exfoliants work to dislodge dead skin cells gently and promote their natural shedding process. AHAs like glycolic acid gently exfoliate the surface layer, while salicylic acid works to unclog pores and avoid breakouts. Niacinamide exfoliant and ferments are other options which provide gentle yet effective solutions.

How often you exfoliate depends on your skin type and sensitivity; once every week for dry/sensitive skin is ideal; 2-3 times weekly is typically sufficient for oily/breakout prone skin types. Be gentle; overexfoliating can cause irritation to your skin’s protective barrier and break it down over time.

Toning

Toning involves making muscles more visible and, combined with regular physical exercise and proper nutrition, can contribute to fat reduction. Body care products also play a key role in toning skin; toner is one such product in this category that works. Like their facial counterparts, body toners help rebalance pH after cleansing to prepare it for hydration; they contain ingredients like witch hazel or salicylic acid to purify pores while reducing sebum secretion, while providing refreshing properties and leaving behind more elastic and compact skin.

Moisturizer

Moisturizing is essential in restoring skin’s innate barrier function. Moisture replenishes lost lipid levels through cleansing, as well as providing the hydration necessary for desquamation and enzyme activity.

Occlusives such as petrolatum and other fatty substances form a seal around the outer skin layer to stop trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Emollients like glycerin attract moisture molecules to the surface; they smooth roughness and fill fine lines as they do so. Barrier-repair ingredients like ceramides and PHA gluconolactone replace natural fats in the skin barrier and restore its ability to function normally.

Lotions are lightweight and easily absorbed, making them suitable for normal to slightly dry skin types. Creams provide intense hydration and protection. Some moisturizers also contain menthol for itching relief and topical anesthesia purposes.
