Additionally, they host workshops, book clubs, and enlightenment events designed to inform their community on the benefits of clean living; owners Morrisa Jenkins and Bonkosi Horn hope that by normalizing self-care among Black women.
Early modern England was home to many apothecaries who did much more than sell drugs: they created medicines from herbs and materials like candied rose petals, oyl of sulphur, and cherry syrup, and prepared medicinal remedies using them. Apothecaries also distilled oils, made tinctures from roots and berries, sold dried flowers and ground earthworms, sold distilled oils directly, or managed their husbands’ businesses as an apothecary (also called widow apothecaries), often compiling medicine prescriptions for physicians.
Morrisa and Bonkosi have introduced this ancient tradition of apothecary into the city they so care deeply for, hoping to encourage people to use a holistic approach for healing purposes and discover joy in self-care practices.

The Honey Pot Co
Beatrice Dixon launched The Honey Pot Co in Atlanta with the intent of revolutionizing how women think about their bodies. Her company sells plant-derived feminine care products like washes, wipes and pads made without harsh chemicals to meet consumer demand for more natural feminine hygiene options. As she did so successfully over time, The Honey Pot Co has gained tremendous traction among consumers who seek alternatives to conventional feminine hygiene products.
Dixon launched her business with a $21,000 loan from her brother and savings from working as a nurse. Her first breakthrough occurred when Whole Foods stores began stocking her products and she received an email request for samples from Target (TGT).
Now the Honey Pot Co has expanded to 33,000 locations nationwide – including Walmart and CVS – but its growth hasn’t come without challenges, with one lawsuit filed against it in 2020 being dismissed by a federal court as the plaintiffs were unable to demonstrate that statements about The Honey Pot Co were false or misleading; additionally, FDA does not require manufacturers to disclose ingredients used in their feminine washes.
The Body Shop
The Body Shop is known for their eco-friendly, ethical, and anti-animal testing products. When founded by Dame Anita Roddick in 1987, their focus was to take stands against controversial social issues with campaigns advocating them – this helped establish them as beloved brands among customers. Their products also contain many natural ingredients.
Consumer tastes in the beauty and skincare industry can quickly shift, forcing The Body Shop to quickly adapt or risk losing customers to competitors. Furthermore, changing economic circumstances could prompt customers to reduce discretionary spending.
The Body Shop has made changes over time to adapt to changing consumer tastes. They’ve reduced plastic waste with new packaging designs and introduced refill schemes in many stores. In addition, they have partnered with refugee employment organizations to hire employees – something which has helped draw in young consumers while simultaneously keeping them loyal to them.
